CARSON HARTWIG BENEFIT SET FOR FEBRUARY 16TH<\/h3>\t\t\t

<\/p>It was this time last year that Carson Hartwig, son of Jamie and Heath Hartwig, then a 7th grader at the Darlington Middle School, was diagnosed with cancer. He went through surgery on his arm where his upper arm bone was removed and replaced with a donor bone, in order to remove the cancer. He also went through chemotherapy treatments. Then this past October spots were found on his lung, which resulted in more surgery and chemotherapy.
\nNow new spots have been found which creates a situation where new treatment options are also on the horizon. To help offset the costs that the family has, and will occur, a benefit 5K and 1 mile run\/walk has been scheduled for Saturday, February 16th beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Darlington Fire House located at 230 West Cornelia Street in Darlington. Everyone participating will receive a \u201cCarson Cruise\u201d race number and there will be plenty of post-race refreshments following. There will be no entry fee, instead there will be a free will donation. Come and warm up your body with the run\/walk, and then warm up your heart by helping a young man and his family. You are asked to come and enjoy the food and the fellowship even if you don\u2019t plan on participating in the run\/walk. We will also be having a silent auction at the fire house during this event (see post in discussion of who to contact\/drop off if you would like to donate)
